New Rival
Client Situation
Our client for this project, an electric utility company, wanted to "demystify"
a top tier wholesale energy marketer by better understanding its true
ability to serve retail markets. With this understanding, the client wanted
to determine how it might compare with this new rival.
Fuld & Company's Approach
In order to address this issue, we researched the target's retail market
entry plan and its implementation in great detail. We performed the research
by doing substantial internet searches to identify the target's major
retail customers, technology partners, and outsourcing initiatives. We
then interviewed these sources along with industry financial analysts
and company insiders. Our research identified the status of the competitor's
rollout strategy with respect to its geographic focus, market segment
prioritization and back office infrastructure systems capabilities.
