Project Experience
Mergers, Acquisitions, and Alliances
Client Situation
Our client, a major telecommunications company, wished to track the increasing
number of combinations and strategic alliances occurring in its rapidly
changing industry. The increasing number of combinations overwhelmed the
ability of the small group assigned to this task to monitor the announcements.
Fuld Approach
Fuld & Company ran an extensive secondary literature search of US
and international data bases. We then consolidated information from numerous
sources to create a searchable database of activities on a global basis.
We included data on all the participants (up to six in several alliances),
the goal of the alliance, which could be marketing, technology, or distribution,
the nature of the combination, and the size of the participants.
Benefits and Implications
The client could now easily analyze patterns on a goal, sub-industry,
geographic or company basis. This trend analysis provided evidence of
changes in the competitive landscape that the client needed to address.
