E-Business - Internet Based Consulting Services
Client Situation
Our client, a major information technology organization, decided to deliver
its consulting services over the Internet. Since this was a new business
venture for the company, a broad survey of the competitive landscape was
needed to insure a winning offering.
Fuld Approach
Potential competitors were divided into categories based on Internet expertise,
consulting experience and business model. The client and Fuld & Company
jointly determined the most likely organizations within these categories.
Research on these potential competitors was then performed by Fuld &
Company to ascertain the actual and potential activities that would compete
with the client's new line of business. Traditional secondary literature
searches proved unrewarding; this activity in this area was too new and
changeable.
Benefits and Implications
The client was glad to know that no competitive service was actually being
offered although recognizing that new competitors could enter this market
