Determining Best Practices in e-Procurement

Client Situation
Our client, a large international firm with divisions in multi-industry segments, realized the potential of lowering costs and increasing time to market through revamping its procurement policies and procedures for production material.

Fuld Approach
The client sought the help of Fuld & Company in researching the key practices of three leaders in industries with characteristics similar to those of the largest divisions of the client. The three companies were chosen because of their reputations for best-in-class electronic procurement practices.

Benefits and Implications
While the three companies all adopted slightly different approaches, the client found practices from each of the companies that were applicable to his organization. However, a key benefit of e-procurement come from headcount reduction. One of the major learnings was how to deal with resistance from existing staff in the transition to an e-model.
