Project Experience
Organizational Innovation Lead to Success
Client Situation
While new technology usually provides the foundation for winning in information
technology, innovation in organization structure is also key to winning.
For example, an international client sought to understand how a US-based
company developed its highly effective virtual operating philosophy in
order to evaluate changing its own organization.
Fuld Approach
Fuld & Company researched how the original decision to become a virtual
corporation was reached, how it has evolved over time and what are the
trade-offs involved in operating as a virtual corporation. As with many
innovations, the decision to operate virtually was based on a budget too
small for setting up a full-blown operation. But over time, communications
costs and issues rose, but the overall advantages continued to outweigh
these costs.
Benefits and Implications
With this understanding, the client could assess the viability of changing
its own organization. It could also plan for the transition with minimal
disruption to its staff and customers. . For more information, contactMark Chodnowsky at mchodnowsky@fuld.com
