Financial Services Process Consulting.
Client Situation
Our client, a leading diversified financial services firm, asked Fuld
and Company to assist them in developing a more comprehensive competitive
intelligence system to provide its senior management with intelligence
that would support market positioning strategies including: distribution,
branding, acquisitions and alliances, product development.
Fuld Approach
After extensive discussions with our client, and working in conjunction
with Fuld's Competitive Intelligence Process Consulting Group, we felt
the most effective way to meet our client's objective was to first benchmark
its competitors market intelligence capabilities while concurrently Fuld's
CI Solutions group assessed our client's existing intelligence capabilities.
Working with the client, we identified and analyzed several "best-in-class"
competitors and most importantly, sought to understand the competitor's
internal intelligence capabilities and decision-making process. Our next
step was to design and implement a "best-in-class" financial
services competitive intelligence system. We conducted a series of in-depth
training workshops designed to improve our client's collection and analytical
capabilities. Additionally, we worked with senior managers to better their
understanding of how market intelligence can shape decisions regarding
alliances and acquisitions, methods and sources of distribution, timing
of product launch and product promotion and marketing.
Benefits and Implications
The result was that our industry expertise, coupled with our CI Solutions
Group's design and training package, allowed our client to expand its
use of intelligence to guide and shape strategic decision-making.
