Leonard M. Fuld
President
Leonard Fuld is a pioneer in the field of competitive intelligence. He has created many of the intelligence-gathering techniques currently used by corporations around the globe. Mr. Fuld was among the first four people to be named a Fellow of the Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals (SCIP) and was awarded the Meritorious Award, the highest award offered by SCIP, in 1998.
Mr. Fuld's company, Fuld & Company, founded in 1979, specializes in providing business intelligence to corporations to improve their decision-making for strategy, operations and tactical applications. His company has served over half the Fortune 500 companies as well as corporations around the world. Headquartered in Cambridge, MA, Fuld & Company Inc. also operates offices in London, England and Geneva, Switzerland.
Mr. Fuld is a widely published author. In addition to his newly published book, The Secret Language of Competitive Intelligence (Random House, 2006), he has previously published, Competitor Intelligence: How to Get It - How to Use It (Wiley, 1985) and Monitoring the Competition: Find Out What's Really Going On Over There (Wiley, 1988), The New Competitor Intelligence (Wiley, 1995), as well as a distance learning product, The Fuld War Room (CD-ROM). His articles have appeared in major business publications including The Harvard Business Review, The Wall Street Journal, CIO Magazine, Chief Executive, Marketing News, Directors & Boards, Boardroom Reports, Chief Executive, and The Journal of Business Strategy among many others.
He is a recognized expert who has helped companies and institutions improve their early warning capability. He has worked with the United Nations, as well as with numerous corporations around the globe to improve their intelligence and decision-making capabilities.
Mr. Fuld has been profiled in a large number of magazines including Harvard Business Review, Fortune, Industry Week, Venture Magazine, Marketing News, The Christian Science Monitor, The New York Times, Newsweek, Across the Board and Business Marketing. He has also been featured on The Today Show, Marketplace, CBS Network Newsbreak, Financial News Network Evening News and ESPN's Nation's Business Today.
He is a featured speaker, educating boards of directors and other executive groups at major corporations worldwide and at numerous professional conferences including the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), American Marketing Association, the Conference Boards of New York and Canada, the Planning Forum, the Society of Competitor Intelligence Professionals (SCIP), and the American Society of Industrial Security. Fuld's popular competitor intelligence seminars have been attended by over one thousand executives from major US and international corporations.
Michael A. Oliver
Senior Vice President & Chief Operations Officer
Mike Oliver is a Senior Vice-President and the COO for Fuld & Company. He has over thirty five years of experience in the technology and business services industry with most of the last twenty years in operational management roles. Prior to joining Fuld & Company he was a partner at the Monitor Group where he served in various business operations roles. He joined Monitor as a part of their acquisition of Strategic Pricing Group in June 2005 where he held the position of President and Chief Operating Officer.
Mr. Oliver also was a Managing Partner at the Consulting Group of CSC where he held a number of positions during his eleven years at CSC including Managing Director of the Ohio regional office, Vice President of Services, Vice President of Technology, and Vice President of Electronic Business.
Before joining CSC, Mr. Oliver was President and CEO of Just Technical Associates (JTA), a firm that specialized in technical consulting. He began his business career at Electronic Data Systems (EDS) serving in account manager, project manager, and systems engineering roles.
Mr. Oliver has an Industrial engineering degree from the University of Oklahoma and served as an Officer in the Navy during the Vietnam era.
He is married with one daughter and lives in Concord, Massachusetts.
Michael A. Sandman
Senior Vice President
Michael Sandman is Senior Vice President of Fuld & Company. He has over twenty-five years of experience as a senior operations manager with a focus on the use of technology in operations. Mr. Sandman also has extensive background in technology transfer to licensees and joint venture partners in the Pacific Rim, Switzerland, England, Mexico and Brazil.
Mr. Sandman was CEO of a privately held composites manufacturer, and he subsequently became chief operating officer of a division of the Dexter Corporation. At Dexter he was responsible for moving his division to client-server architecture and oversaw the development of an integrated IT solution for operations management. Since 1984, he has consulted extensively in the U.S. and abroad for a variety of manufacturing operations. He joined Fuld & Company in 1991, where he is the managing partner. He has led projects for IT clients assessing supply chain issues and he developed a successful methodology for helping clients benchmark their use of technology tools in operations vis-à-vis their competitors'.
He has been a guest lecturer at Columbia University Business School's advanced management program for senior executives, the University of Wisconsin's Management Institute and at the Boston University School of Management. Mr. Sandman developed and teaches CI 101 and CI 202, the courses sponsored by the Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals (SCIP). He has served on the peer review board of the Competitor Intelligence Review, and he wrote the chapter on computers and software for competitor intelligence applications published in Perfectly Legal Competitor Intelligence (Bernhardt, Pitman Publishing/Financial Times, London 1993). He is the author of the chapter on business intelligence analysis for Millennium Intelligence, edited by Professor Jerry Miller and published in 2000.
Mr. Sandman received his B.S. (Economics) from Clark University in Worcester, MA and a M.B.A. from the Johnson School of Cornell University in Ithaca, NY.
Anthony Nagle
Managing Director, Fuld Europe Vice President, Global Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare Practice
Anthony Nagle joined Fuld in January 2005 as Vice President and Managing Director, Fuld Europe. Prior to Fuld Mr. Nagle’s career has included 17 years of international commercial & product development experience covering the pharmaceutical, consumer diagnostic and biopharmaceutical sectors.
Mr. Nagle has headed a newly established biopharmaceutical division for a top 20 multinational based in Denmark. Initial focus for revenue generation is the out licensing of early stage peptide based drugs. As a Senior Vice President of global marketing & product development he was responsible for a variety of marketing and licensing activities in the UK, Germany, China and New Zealand, including completing a number of in licensing and one out licensing deal to expand / enhance therapy area portfolio in the areas of gene therapy, drug delivery.
As a hands-on marketer for large multinationals, GlaxoSmithKline and Bayer, he brings practical knowledge and therapeutic area experience in diabetes, gastrointestinal & coagulation therapeutic areas which involved the development & execution of global product strategic plans as well as building probability based market models Mr. Nagle also brings with him general management experience as head of healthcare business in New Zealand as well as being a key team member that established a highly successful Joint Venture in the PR China.
Mr. Nagle is a Life science graduate, with a BSc with honours (cum laude) in Microbiology & Virology from Warwick University in the UK.
Lenore Scanlon,
VP & Senior Advisor
Lenore Scanlon is a vice president at Fuld & Company, overseeing the firm’s formal quality initiative and serving as a senior advisor to the Financial & Business Services practice, which she managed for over 10 years. Prior to joining FULD & COMPANY in 1991, Ms. Scanlon was a corporate banking officer for First American Bank (now Wachovia) in Washington D.C..
Ms. Scanlon's previous experience also includes consulting to the American Business Linkage Enterprise, a service of the International Executive Service Corps (IESC), where she conducted market research/export development studies on behalf of businesses in developing countries. One IESC project involved targeting potential U.S. partners for offshore garment assembly in Bolivia. Another called for assessment of the market and channels of distribution for structural steel made in Chile, according to specifications of OEMs in the U.S.
Ms. Scanlon graduated cum laude from Georgetown University in 1986, with a B.S. in French and a minor in Russian.
Mark Chodnowsky
Vice President, Industrial Manufacturing & CPG Practices
Mark Chodnowsky is Vice President and Director in Fuld’s Technology & Manufacturing Practice. He brings over 15 years experience as a strategy consultant for a broad range of leading global technology, manufacturing, and professional services companies.
In addition to his expertise in technical competitive intelligence and market strategy, Mr. Chodnowsky has conducted well over one hundred assignments advising clients on mergers and acquisitions, new product launches, technology roadmaps and licensing, pricing and distribution, and business development and diversification strategies.
In the technology sector, Mr. Chodnowsky has led assignments for firms such as IBM, JDS Uniphase, Lockheed Martin, Siemens, and Texas Instruments. His experience spans telecommunications equipment and services, semiconductor components, IT hardware and software, electronics contract manufacturing, test instrumentation, and optical components and systems.
Prior to joining Fuld & Co., Mr. Chodnowsky was a Director at Data and Strategies Group in Boston, a consulting firm specializing in technical marketing and business development. He has also held strategic planning and marketing positions at Analog Devices and Sulzer Industries, and was a senior research engineer at Becton Dickinson.
Mr. Chodnowsky holds a BE from Stevens Institute of Technology in Engineering Physics/Applied Optics and an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University, with a concentration in operations research and information systems.
Jeanne LaFrance
Vice President, Director of Sales
Jeanne LaFrance is Vice President and Director of Sales at Fuld & Company, where she leads business development. In this role she focuses both on expanding relationships with current clients and building new corporate relationships across the multiple Fuld practice channels. She brings twenty five years of corporate and consulting skills to Fuld clients.
Experienced across several industries, some of Mrs. LaFrance’s specific achievements include:
- Building a client management model for syndicated research firm
- Creating pricing models for a software firm’s product in an emerging new industry
- Targeting acquisition candidates for global enterprise technology manufacturer
- Developing and managing sales pipeline reporting and analytics for a large performance and time management firm
- Project managing the two year development of an equity market trading system
- Building the trading capabilities and training modules for the first commercial banks to offer investment products as part of their bank portfolio of products
Prior to Joining Fuld & Company, Jeanne led the LaFrance Group where she consulted with technology and on-line media firms. She worked across sales, marketing, and operational areas for companies from start-up to NYSE/NASDAQ leaders. Earlier, Mrs. LaFrance was an Executive Vice President at Morgan Stanley Group in New York City, driving an institutional Broker Dealer equity, option and futures trading subsidiary, supporting hedge funds, corporate treasurers, Pension Managers, and Investment Advisors.
Jeanne also held sales relationship roles at both the New York Stock Exchange and Bethlehem Steel Corporation.
She has a BS in Marketing from Pace University in New York, and is a member of the Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals (SCIP)
Kevin Mulcahy
Vice President, Technology Practice
Kevin Mulcahy is Vice President and the Director of Fuld & Company’s Global Technology Practice. He brings over 16 years experience in consulting and executive roles across a broad range of leading technology, financial and professional services companies. In addition to his expertise in competitive intelligence and corporate strategy, Mr. Mulcahy has conducted assignments advising clients on due diligence research, scenario planning, and war gaming. Prior to joining Fuld & Co., Mr. Mulcahy spent four years as the CEO of a global telecom reseller. Previously, he has held executive roles at Sprint’s corporate headquarters and within the international division with responsibilities for business unit, corporate and board-level strategy development, business planning, contingency planning and global strategic partnerships. Prior to joining Sprint, Kevin spent four years as a management consultant within both the technology and the financial services strategy practices of Gemini Consulting. Mr. Mulcahy received his undergraduate degree from Trinity College Dublin with a concentration in Management Science and Industrial System Studies. He also holds an MBA from Boston College with a concentration in Strategy and Operations Management.
Bob Lehmann
Vice President, Financial and Business Services Practice
Bob has a dozen years experience as a competitive strategist, research director and marketing executive in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Fuld & Co., he led the development of the CI function at Fidelity Investments, formalizing the processes for gathering and incorporating competitive analysis into business strategy development and strategic planning. As a former Fuld & Company client and heavy consumer of competitive intelligence over the last decade, he has first hand understanding of client needs, priorities and mandates. He uses this perspective to ensure that clients derive maximum benefit from their collaboration with the Fuld team. He is a graduate from Middlebury College, holds graduate degrees in Business Administration and Computer Science, and has been licensed with a Series 7 and 63.
